Renovate a fireplace in Gold Leaf

This London gilded fireplace has been completely renovated and given a beautiful contemporary look. I used  Transfer 22 carat gold leaf to cover the entire surface of the fireplace. The simple base frame was originally wood which was immediately elevated to something unique and stunning through the gilding. This is something that can be applied to any surface or furniture to immediately transform the surface. It just depends on your imagination...

Oil gilding transforms a mirror on site

Sometimes its not possible to bring the work to the workshop and the job has to be carried on site. This piece started out originally as an old door frame which the client had bought and filled with a mirror to make a large decorative bathroom mirror. Using Dutch Metal leaf in an Antique Gold shade I oil-gilded a newly  painted surface and then tinted the leaf with earth pigments to the client's specification. Finally it was sealed with two coats of acrylic lacquer to waterproof the surface for use in a bathroom. I love working for clients who are creative and willing to try out new finishes to rejuvenate an existing piece of furniture.
Hope you agree that the result is both elegant and unique.

All that glistens could be Aluminium leaf

This cupboard and mirror frames were custom made for a client. The change from a mdf base to a polished and shimmery surface was striking. The good thing about aluminium leaf is that is very reasonable in price and if varnished doesn't tarnish. It also comes in 14 cm squares so it covers large areas easily.
