Broken Gilded Mirror Frames …..can be fully repaired!

This beautiful 19th Century carved wood and gesso gilt wood mirror fell off a wall and crashed into over 20 pieces causing unbelievable and seemingly irrevocable damage. However after some painstaking glueing and repairing ( some of which you can see below in before and after photos), the mirror was brought back to one piece again. Some antique glass was fitted and much to the owners amazement hung back on the wall in one piece.

I used traditional water gilding on the repairs, some re-carving of gesso and 23.75 carat gold which i then distressed to match the existing antique finish.

  1. I have this beautiful old mirror that my grandmother gave to me years ago. The other day, my grandsons were playing ball in the house and one of them accidentally through the ball at the mirror. I would really like to have the glass repaired.

    1. Hi Susan

Apologies for such a delay in replying i hadn't realised people could add comments in! I can create mirror using verre eglomise effect ( google term to see effect of small silver squares) but i don't have the facilities to manufacture mirrored glass I am afraid. I do repair frames if it needs repair? Kind regards Clare
